What it does
DeepL translates texts and entire documents – Word, PowerPoint, PDF – and keeps the layout. Glossaries let you define how technical terms and product names are translated; in the Business plan a translation memory remembers sentences already translated. DeepL Write suggests rephrasings and a suitable tone for your own texts. Extensions for browsers, Office and Google Workspace bring translation to wherever you write.
Who it suits
Anyone who works in several languages regularly: website copy, quotes, support replies, contracts for understanding. In German especially, the result often sounds more natural than with all-round assistants.
Data protection for businesses
In the free service, texts may be used for training for a limited time – unsuitable for confidential content. In the Pro plans, texts are stored only briefly for translation and not used for training. Since April 2026, DeepL no longer processes data exclusively in Europe and also uses AWS as a sub-processor; if you need data residency in Europe, arrange it with DeepL. The data processing agreement is part of the Pro contract.
Limits
Character and file limits per plan. The Pro version of DeepL Write costs extra in the Individual and Team plans and supports only some languages. For legal texts, a translation does not replace professional review.
